In de dagen voor het kermis weekend gebeurt er van alles in het dorp, mensen verzorgen de voortuin, hier en daar wordt het schilderwerk bijgewerkt….alles moet tip top in orde zijn tijdens het kermis weekend.
Ook in het huis gebeurt er van alles maar dan vooral op culinair gebied. De wat oudere dorpelingen zullen nog wel “paling in gelei” kennen, een lekkernij die tijdens de kermis bij de mensen op tafel verscheen.
Een andere culinaire traditie is de “kermis vlaai”. Iedere familie heeft zijn eigen recept en persoonlijke toevoeging maar deze vlaai bestaat toch voornamelijk uit melk, peperkoek, liga koeken, stroop en suiker…
Sinds 2021 organiseren we als Kermis ComitΓ© ondertussen ook de “vlaai bak wedstrijd” waarbij iedereen zijn zelf gebakken vlaai kan laten keuren door een jury van bekende dorpelingen……de winnaar of winnares mag zich een jaar lang “vlaai bak kampioen” van Westdorpe noemen, een titel om trots op te zijn!! ξBeantwoordenξ£Doorsturen
